A genuinely useful pet-friendly hotel guide has to do more than list properties. Pet fees, size limits, species rules and room availability can change, so the most important step is to verify the current policy on the hotel’s own site before booking.
Policies below were checked against hotel websites in September 2026. Reconfirm before travel.
Hotel del Coronado
Hotel del Coronado currently welcomes dogs and cats up to 40 pounds, with a maximum of two pets per room. The hotel lists a non-refundable pet charge and also publishes restrictions for certain dog breeds, so this is a property where reading the full policy before booking is especially important.
Pendry San Diego
Pendry San Diego currently allows domestic dogs and lists a per-stay pet fee. Its FAQ also says cats and other pets are not allowed. This downtown option may suit travelers who want Gaslamp access and are bringing a dog rather than another species.
The Dana on Mission Bay
The Dana on Mission Bay allows up to two dogs per room with no weight restriction. Its published policy uses a nightly fee structure and notes that pet-friendly rooms are subject to availability. Waterfront paths nearby can be convenient for routine leash walks.
Loews Coronado Bay Resort
Loews Coronado Bay Resort currently welcomes cats and dogs, limits rooms to two pets and lists a one-time pet fee per stay. The resort’s location on Coronado Bay may appeal to travelers prioritizing outdoor space over a downtown setting.
